Laneige Water Sleeping Pack _ EX

Finally finished this tub of sleeping mask.

Sleeping mask is typically very suitable for lazy person like MOI as you just put it on and sleep in it. This is quite a popular mask in Singapore, selling at S$50++ in department store but I got my friend to buy it from Korea - S$25. This is almost half or even more cheaper in Korea than in Singapore!

Verdict: If you are buying from department store, don't waste your money!
Recently, I read that Dr GL Restore Gel Mask can be used as a sleeping mask as well and did that for weeks and the result is far far better than Laneige. I can really see the difference between the 2 masks. Restore Gel Mask is selling for S$68, comparing the price, put that budget into Restore Gel Mask. If you are able to get Laneige at Korea price (S$25) and do not have the budget for Dr GL, then maybe you can consider that.

Kinda of disappointed in Laneige Sleeping Mask =(

Collection - concealer!

Found this at Toa Payoh Central Watsons! The concealer is very much raved about and its about S$14-S$16. I bought the shade Light - 2 and used it yesterday. SO FAR SO GOOD! No cracking lines under the eyes! FYI: MADE IN CHINA!!!!! - at your own risk heh heh heh

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water and Loose Powder

Ho Ho Ho....finally finished up my cleansing water from Koh Gen Do (KGD). The counter is located at 3rd level of Takashimaya Shopping Centre which is rather surprising as all the other cosmetic brands are located at level 1. Bought the small bottle at S$15 - 100ml for my first trial.

Hmmm.....I feel that it is almost the same as Bioderma but KGD removes waterproof mascara much better and easier as compared to Bioderma. And I used this as a makeup remover not to replace my cleanser FYI.

Overall view is, this is way more costly than Bioderma and it doesn't really make much difference - in my opinion. As for the mascara removing "speed", I think the price of Bioderma can make up for it =)

KGD is available in 2 sizes:

100ml = S$15
300ml = S50

Doesn't really make sense to me....if I get 3 small bottles, I will get the 300ml of products but 5 bucks cheaper????!!!

The 10g of KGD loose powder cost about S$54 and it does come with the puff. The puff can be bought separately at S$25 (kinda of exp). Although the shade is named Light Beige, I think it is translucent. And it comes with SPF-which is a plus point to me =)

The powder is very finely milled and I like the finishes as compared to my Bobbi Brown ( Sheer Finished Loose Powder in Soft Sand 5 and I can't recall the price tag and it does not come with a puff).

I feel that the KGD powder sort of brighten up my look after I applied it on top of my liquid foundation. I do not use the puff that comes with it but use my powder brush instead. With a S$54 price tag that comes with a big puff and 10g of product, I think it is worth trying! =)

Hakuhodo brushes

In the picture are (left to right) Kokutan angled brush (S$98), Basic Tapered brush ( S$69 - I think), Basic angled finishing brush ( S$75 - I think)

We were so lucky to have a Hakuhodo temp set up corner in Aug/ Sep 13 at Takashimaya! And I was also very lucky to get this piece of news from local bloggers through their blog and instagram! Since my office is so near town, I made a trip down during lunch time to try the texture of these highly raved about brushes!

Well, as it was the 3rd or 4th day later.....the popular pieces were all gone.....but I knew I wanted to get an angled brush....In the end, I got 3! Pocket bleeding again =(

OMG!!! The brushes are so so so so soft especially the Kokutan series!!! I couldn't help it by picking 2 angled brushes heh heh heh...

From the website:

Kokutan finishing brush - http://www.hakuhodousa.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=24

Hair type is a combi of both goat (Sokoho) and Synthetic finish. This is the ultra soft among the 3 and it is so gentle on the skin...feel very luxurious. I have used it for applying bronzers and finishing powder, I loved it! But I will try to use it for highlighting along my high cheek bone soon.

Basic Tapered brush

This is a good brush for applying loose powder after your foundation, in my opinion. Especially with the pointed end, it is very easy to apply the powder under the eye area and around the nose as well. Among the 3, this is the most used brush and it tend to shed alittle bit, just one or two strand of hairs. And of course, it's soft!

Basic angled finishing brush

This is slightly denser than the Kokutan finishing brush and I used it for applying blusher. This is the least used among the three and I will be switching it up to apply bronzers soon. Again, soft soft soft!

But after several uses, these brushes tend to have a smell when I used them and the Japanese promoter told me to wash them every THREE months! I was shocked when I hear this! She advised to clean the brushes on a tissue after every use and it should last for 3 months. I thought we need to thoroughly clean our brushes every week???? And after each wash, need to air it upside down for 5 days before using them again. Hmmm....although I'm shocked but at the same time grinning that these brushes need not to be washed weekly (lazy nature), but I don't think I will wait for 3 months, most probably I will wash them 1 month later and in between use, I will spritz some make up forever brush cleanser for some spot cleaning before using to prevent breakout =)

Comparing the prices selling online and what is selling in Singapore, I think its cheaper to get them locally. I hope that they do come back often!!

Get yours if you have the chance.

Have a great weekend!

Michael Todd vs Bobbi Brown Eye Cream

Finally! I have start using the MT eye cream which was raved by YOUTUBE beauty Guru - MissGlamorazzi but apparently this product stopped to be in her monthly favourite list as months went by.

Well Well Well.......the texture of this product is the same as the moisturiser that I had from MT - which I find it too greasy. Initially, I will use one full pump of this product for both eyes but find the product very "liquidy" and greasy. Subsequently, I changed to only using a tiny weeny bit and find it more acceptable. But comparing this to Bobbi Brown eye cream, the BB one will feel more luxurious and rich. As I have just finished my very first pot of BB eye cream, I find that it really helps to combat fine lines (NOT dark circle) whereas for MT eye cream, it is more for maintenance purpose instead of fixing problems such as fine lines/ wrinkles/ dark circle.

FYI, I don't utilise the function of the applicator due to hygiene purpose =)

In term of pricing, the MT eye cream cost USD38 for 15ml (plus shipping cost ...maybe about S$60-S$70) whereas it cost  about S$100 for the same size. Nearly 1.5 times more for BB eye cream.
I bought mine at DFS Singapore where I paid S$132-S$135 for a full size eye cream + 0.5ounce face extra repair moisturing balm + 0.24ounce extra soothing balm + a tube lip gloss + eye mask which is a good deal (but I'm not sure if they are still selling this deal package in DFS)

Bottomline: I will splurge on the BB eye cream if there is an issue going on and only use the MT eye cream for maintenance which will be easier/ less "stressful" for my pocket =)

Ciao

Moisturiser, Moisturiser, Moisturiser !!!

I have been trying this new moisturiser for about a month and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!
This moisturiser (the bottle on the right) is suitable for ALL skin type!
Extracted from DrGL website:
This lightweight moisturiser is all but basic. Goes beyond providing essential hydration to repair and protect skin against photoaging, minimise the appearance of fine lines, and keep skin soft and supple all day long.
Super moisturising Hyaluronic Acid plumps up skin and restores its elasticity at the cellular level while powerful antioxidant Vitamin C fights the free radical damage that causes premature aging.

This is the most non sticky/oily moisturiser I have used thus far! And it absorb into my skin almost immediately! This is especially important for weather like Singapore and I do not sleep in air-conditioner room due to sinus, after putting on the moisturiser you dont feel a thing and next morning when I woke up, my skin seem pumped =)

And I used this twice daily, the super speedy absorption really come in handy before makeup. At least I do not have to wait for the moisturiser to sink in before my foundation, this moisturiser is almost 100% sink in when I was looking for foundation and brush ! Haha!

This is created by Dr. Georgia Lee especially for Singapore Women and Men, she knows the problems we face and weather in Singapore. Some international brand might be very popular but doesn't seem to work for us =(

This moisturiser is very effective but not cheap =)
100ml cost S$198 and it is available in Robinson and escentials @ Paragon

At the same time, I tried the new Restore Gel Mask which cost S$68 for 240ml. This is a simple mask whereby you just leave it on and rinse off. I feel that it works the same as the Dermalogica Hydrating Masque but much cheaper. Dermalogica cost alot more in Singapore than States. If I remember correctly, Dermalogica Hydrating Masque cost about S$70-S$80 for a 75ml. Therefore comparatively, it is more cost efficient to try the DrGL Restore Gel Mask! I love both mask as I feel that my skin is always dehydrated due to my coffee addict! A beautician ever told me when you drink a cup of coffee/tea, you will need to drink 4 cups of water on top of the daily basic requirement. *blah*

DrGL line is really worth trying! And the star product of the line is the Collagen Essence.
Extracted from her website:
Suitable for even the most sensitive skin, this superbly hydrating formula penetrates deep within to deliver and retain moisture beyond skin's surface. Lightweight texture keeps skin comfortable in hot and humid weather while still providing more than adequate hydration in drying winter conditions.
Occurring naturally in the deeper layers of skin, Hyaluronic Acid is used in this formula for its perfect affinity with skin and for its amazing ability to hold up to 1,000 times its own weight in water. Skin is plumped from within, feels firmer and more supple too.

Since this is a star product, it does not come cheap either =) A small bottle of 30ml cost S$198! Currently, there is a promotion going on at Robinson. With every S$190 worth of DrGL product purchased, you are able to get the Collagen Essence (30ml) for S$48, the promotion will last till 15 Aug 13.

Happy holiday!

Powder Brushes - Bobbi Brown, Sigma, Real Techniques, bareMinerals, Everyday Minerals

I went down to Tang Orchard one day with an objective in mind, that was to get a setting powder. In the end, Bobbi Brown loose powder was the choice and the BA talked me into getting a powder brush. And soooo I caved in and got myself this powder brush at S$100.

This is one of the more expensive powder brush I purchased thus far and it is a HUGE disappointment!
I have been using Real Techniques, Sigma and Everyday Mineral brushes for powdering and I use bareMinerals retractable angle brush for on the go touch up. All of these brushes definitely cost less than this Bobbi Brown and are way way much better!
The Bobbi Brown brush is very very pricky when I used it on my sensitive skin face, it was fine when I tried it on my hand (or did I tried it the wrong way????) and it shed when I used it lightly on my face which is super super annoying! It can't even be compared to the Real Technique brush shown here. Although the RT brush isn't the softest powder brush but with that kind of price tag, I can't complain much. At least it is not as pricky as BB! The softest brush among here is the Sigma Flat Kabuki brush F80, I will not say this is the best brush for powdering but at least it is so soft and it can be used for blending foundation and powder. 2 in 1 function for the price of S$29.50 ( I got mine from Luxola) - No complain!

BB brush sucks big time!!!!!

This travelling angle powder brush is very soft and I like it very much as it is retractable so I know it is clean when I put it in my cosmestic bag and the size is cute! If I remember correctly, I got it at below S$30( from Sephora-Ion) which is not that expensive for such quality!

Happy Weekend!

Alpha-H Liquid Gold

A good product to recommend to all! Learnt about this liquid gold stuff last year and has no courage to try it since my skin is ultra sensitive and "thin". The word ACID sound scary too! Watching FleurDeforce videos in Youtube and alhtough her skin is quite dry, she is also using this product ...lure me into it. And Luxola start to carry this few months back and was offering a introduction discount of 20% (If I remembered correctly)...so I added it to my cart! After trying for about 1 month plus, I really like this product. It make my skin look fairer and those stubborn blackhead (especially those bigger one!) seem more easier to be squeezed out! And my makeup set better if I use this the night before! I used this every other night and always go for the intensive treatment. Whereby I will only apply this with cotton pad and sleep with it.Alternatively, if you are not as hardcore as I am, you may apply with moisturizer or serum as mentioned at the back of the bottle. As I feel that this make my skin more vulnerable, so I will definitely apply with the Philosophy Take Shelter sun screen as it is SPF50 Pa+++ and work fine under my makeup without making my face look greasy! But if you are using the Hourglass makeup primer, you have to let the sunscreen set for awhile before applying the primer otherwise there will be some "white particles" appearing when you are applying that primer.
The stuff is selling at S$52 at Luxola...so do check it out!

Packing for Indonesia Business Trip

Sighh.... just received instruction from regional office that we need to travel to our Indonesia office for a week...it was a trip that had been postponing and was confirmed on Friday. We are really not willing to travel there but for work...we have no choice. Booked ticket, confirmed hotel stay and airport transfer, all got to be done ourselves and did a on line check in since we are traveling by SQ.

Last minute 'shopping'....have never tried the Simple cleansing wipe (S$14.20), hope it won't break me out *finger crossed*
The Watsons disposable panties is 100% cotton (S$7.90 for 2 packs), I hope it will be more comfortable than those "paper" kind. Why don't they have different cutting for consumer to choose, like box panties or midi..let us have more choices please!!!
haha....I am more concern with vanity than  essential! These are the stuff that I packed first! Follow by...

clothing.....the luggage is too big but I can't be bother much since I am checking this in and carrying my favourite crumpler bag! It is tough! And had followed me for several business trip and never failed me! Hope everything goes smoothly for this trip. Pray for moi! ;)

Bioderma Sensibio H2O in 500ml arrived in Singapore!!!

Finally!! The 500ml is now available in Guardian Pharmacy and Watson's store! I did tried to email the Bioderma Singapore if I can get 500ml many months back but the person-in-charge replied that the 500ml is only available in certain clinic in Singapore. Now I see that it is easily available, of course, I am HAPPY! The 250ml cost S$29.90 (promo price is about S$23.90 exclusively in Guardian Pharmacy). The big bottle cost S$46 in clinic but now they are selling at S$39.90 in Guardian and some Watson's store (bought mine at Toa Payoh branch). Sooooooo...it is definitely more cost efficient to buy "BIG" =P

Background: I had been using Shu Uemura cleansing oil ( Pink/Green/Blue) for over 10 years and after watching Lisa Eldridge raving about this...I went ahead to try it. Moreover, it is for sensitive skin (moi moi moi) and it is definitely cheaper as compare to Shu. The only downside of using Bioderma is ......you need to use it with cotton pad =( whereas Shu is so much convenient. After using Bioderma for few months now, it really help to control the redness on my face ...it seem to "control" the sensitivity of my face. Which is a big YEAH!!!

As for Fancl cleansing oil....I don't really like it....feel that it does not clean as good as the 2 brand mentioned above.....especially waterproof mascara.

Saw this notice at Guardian...so beware of imitation!!!! Never know that there is imitation in the market....well when a product is so good, imitation will pop out, right????? It is better to be safe than sorry, just buy from Guardian Pharmacy.

Have a great weekend!

Shiseido Sales

Got this piece of information from a beauty blogger and I was tempted!!!!!! Cle de Peau and Nars were calling out my name!!!! So i decided to go for early lunch and hope to get something I wanted to try from these 2 brands and F.O.

When I reached there at around 11.30am ( was very confident that it will not be crowded)...look at this!!

The queue was really really really terrible!!!! It was so slow moving!!!!

Sorry kids! Mummy need to replenish some beauty products!! Ha Ha...women really go to the extend of bringing kids to sales!
I had to queue for about an hour to reach the beauty studio and need to deposit our bags (even lunch bag) at the counter. The "shopping area" was really small too!!!

Wanted to get CDP eye brow pencil and I managed to get them but not their concealer *disappointed*
Wanted to get Nars - Orgasm (failed), deep-throat (failed), roman holiday (failed)....how can I leave without any Nars, so I just pick up the Andy Warhol mini nail polish set since I wanted to try them....

Total purchase:

Nars Andy Warhol mini nail polish - S$30
CDP eyebrow cartridge & holder - S$40 (S$20 each)
Shiseido waterproof Liquid Eyeliner - S$15
Shiseido White Lucent Travel set - S$15
Shiseido red pouch - S$5
Ettusais Facial Mist oil control - $15

After work, I went to CDP counter at Tang to check out the original price and found out that the holder that the lady gave me was not correct!!! My cartridge could not fit in! OMG!
The BA was very nice to call up the office and informed them about the mistake. So I had to make a trip down to Shiseido office AGAIN just to change the holder without queuing......actually I should not be complaining since they allowed me to change for the correct one.
When I reached the office, the queue was as terrible as earlier ....although the poster put that the sale end at 6pm but I guess they were till 8pm......

Met up with RT to gave her a set of Shiseido White Lucent set since I bought extra and tried my CDP eyebrow on her.....result = very happy with the look....looking forward to try it on myself tomorrow !!
Happy Sales Day!

Michael Todd True Organics - Sensitive Skin Kits and Moisture Lite Light Hydrating Moisturizer

After watching one of my favourite youtube beauty guru (GlamLifeGuru) raving about the Michael Todds products, I decided to give this brand a try....

I am thinking, since it is organic....it can't be too bad right????!!!

Soooooo....I went on to get the Sensitive Skin Kit + Intensive Organic Eye Cream with Haloxyl + Eyeliss
which cost me USD44 (no longer available in the website). In order to make it free shipping to my comgateway address, I added Moisture Lite Light Hydrating Moisturizer which cost USD29. Please note that the Blue Green Algae Toner comes with the kit is missing in this picture =P

The Sensitive Kit consist of (extracting from the website):

Moisturizer (not included in the kit)- Moisture Lite Light Hydrating Moisturizer It's a myth that people with oily skin don't need to moisturize. Dermatologists recommend a lite moisturizer particularly if  your skin care routine includes oil-busting products. Moisture Lite is a soothing hydrating lotion formulated for individuals with normal to oily and combination skin types for whom regular moisturizers are not suitable. Non-greasy. Absorbs completely without clogging pores. Soothes and moisturizes where skin is dry while controlling oil and shine.

Overall experience of this kit is DISAPPOINTING!!!!!!
Background of my skin: big pores, oily, sensitive = redness, recently some adult acne around my chin.

I have finished up the toner and the cleanser....I don't see any sign of impact on my skin and I used both moisturizers concurrently in the night and although it claimed to be light, it is actually quite oily after I applied it. I am not sure if it is due to the weather in Singapore???? ): The scrub smell like doughnut which is nice and very gentle but same as the cleanser...nothing big deal. I think I hate the moisturizers the most among all the products.
I have been using Dermalogica product for about a decade and it had really helped to control my acne for the past few years. Whenever I used a new Derma product, I can actually see some impact on my face....which I don't see that in Michael Todd. But the great thing is ...it never break me out.

As this is not a very expensive brand, you can buy and try it for yourself and since it is organic...I guess it is quite safe (:

26 May 2013 - Riders Cafe

26 May 2013.......

After sooooo long, finally the 3 of us arranged brunch at Riders Cafe. It was so out of the way and will need a car to travel there. Missed a few turns and finally made it there even though we thought of switching place. We were here to celebrated LN's belated birthday. We did not make any reservation and had to wait 20 mins.
So, we ordered 2 Blackstone Benedict and 1 pacific Benedict and their signature chocolate desset. 2 cafe latte and 1 fresh orange juice...total bill S$80+++. This is kinda of expensive to me!

It was raining today and the roof leaked!! As this is at a stable so I kinda of expect shit smell and yes there is....
Overall experience was ok....not really worth the amount (thou I did not pay for the meal heh heh heh) but the time spent with the gals is PRICELESS.....
Will not go back again thou.....

Before we drove off, gave LN her birthday gift and hoped she enjoyed the fragrance I chose! Happy Belated Birthday gal!!!

YSL friends and family sales

I was invited by AT/TFN to this YSL friends and family sales. Actually, I think she did sent me invitation a couple of times but I didn't attend once. I'm not sure why maybe I feel that I must spend within my means and the sale items must still be very costly even though they are on discount....(Don't get the wrong picture that I'm thrifty in fact I'm too spendthrift that I can't afford to spend my monthly $$ on just one bag hahaha)
This time round, I was pretty excited!!! I love their arty rings and have been eyeing for months but I just can't bring myself to swipe my card for a S$400+++ ring and it is not even real gold!!! ok typical Singapore Chinese here =P

I took half day leave to attend the event and reached there around 11am was really surprised that there is a queue from her office to the lift lobby!! I waited for more than 30 mins to get into the room where all items are...I think that is there display room if I am not wrong. Very crowded and stuffy inside the room. Not much space to walk around and the credit card machine was very slow, therefore a long queue at the cashier counter. Arty rings were sold out and only left with a few design and looking at the price tags...OMG...it was really on a huge discount and so ........I picked up these 2 heh heh heh and a pair of fuchsia flats (done up the sole at Shukey @ Lucky plaza for $22- kinda of expensive but the soles really need to be fixed as it's kinda of slippery)

There is one incident I saw while waiting to make payment. This young lady was with her 2 friends and she made a S$1000++ purchase (including a bag and some accessories). I was listening to their conversation while queuing cos I alone and there was nothing better to do. She looked 20+-ish, modern and spoke good english. Like a typical young suits ( in advertising term). When it was her turn, I saw Isla Fisher in Confession of a Shopaholic in real life. I never expect to see this in Singapore as women here have high pride and will not allow to put themselves in such situation. This 'suit' paid S$700 in cash and asked the cashier to swipe S$200 in card A and S$200+ in card B. I was stunned! And the biggest "stunning" part came when card A declined. She got panicky and looked for another card in her wallet. She picked another one and it was declined again. She quickly turned to her friend and asked if she could swiped her card for the balance. Her friend said "oh sure, I hoped I didn't burst my limit on my card as well." Luckily, it went through and the cashier was really friendly and did not make her feel embarrassed during the whole situation. I dared not look at her as I don't want her to feel embarrassed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not mocking at the lady. Just feel that in order to live in this superficial society, one go all way out to impress............

After we checked out...both of us felt hungry and super thirsty....we hurried to the basement to look for food and all of them were closed!!!!! RT being RT (always full of funny and weird act)....as we walked past Dunkin Donuts, the young boy was calculating his sales for the day at the cash register and RT asked if he still have any donuts left for us, since everything was packed , he said no and RT pointed to a big bag of donuts in on of those big tray (she was just trying to be naughty!) and the boy actually offered those plain donuts to us FOC!!!!! There were about 20s in the big "trash" bags but we did actually took 10 hahahahah as RT wanted them for breakfast the next day!!!!!!!

It was a fun day!
